April General Membership Meeting: Seeking Housing Justice: Expanding the Fight for Fair Housing

As we recognize Fair Housing Month, the Fairfax County NAACP is proud to welcome Thomas Fitzpatrick, Executive Director of Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Virginia (HOME), as our featured speaker for the April General Membership Meeting on Tuesday April 28th, via Zoom.

With a deep commitment to equity and justice, Fitzpatrick works at the intersection of policy, advocacy, and community education to ensure that every person has access to safe, affordable housing. Under his leadership, HOME continues to challenge systemic barriers and expand opportunities for historically underserved communities.

The Urban Institute defines housing justice as “ensuring everyone has affordable housing that promotes health, well-being, and upward mobility by confronting historical and ongoing harms and disparities caused by structural racism and other systems of oppression.”

During this important conversation, Fitzpatrick will discuss how HOME’s anti-discrimination and fair housing work fits within—and strengthens—the broader movement for housing justice.

This Housing Month, we invite you to join us in deepening our understanding and renewing our commitment to ensuring that fair housing is not just a principle, but a lived reality for all.
