Fairfax County residents have not been immune to raids conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Fairfax County NAACP opposes these raids as evidence indicates that they are being conducted in a manner that is indiscriminately netting individuals without violent criminal records and in many cases no criminal records at all, as well as women and children. These raids are not only spreading fear among our immigrant communities, but in the process generating distrust towards local law enforcement officials. This leads to less cooperation with our law enforcement and makes our communities less safe for everyone.
Our branch will be hosting a panel discussion on how the president’s policies are affecting local citizens. It will be held on Saturday, March 11th, 10:30 AM at the Kings Park Library, 9000 Burke Lake Rd, Burke, VA 22015.
