Fairfax NAACP Members, Supporters and Friends,
I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and well. These are difficult times and we want you to know the branch is here for you.
As we all try to navigate our daily lives with the new restrictions in place, the chapter is focused on keeping you informed, building community, and supporting those in need in a way that is safe and responsible.
On April 23 at 7:00 pm, we will have our first virtual meeting. We are finalizing the agenda but we will update you on the work we have done while social distancing, have a COVID update from a county official, and much more. Please join us if you can. We will send more details in the coming days.
I also am excited to announce we’re fundraising—not for ourselves—but for those on the front-lines and those in need. We have a fundraiser and all the proceeds will be used to buy meals from a Black-owned restaurant and then donate those meals to the emergency room staff at Fairfax INOVA.
We announced this fundraiser already and we’re already more than half way to our goal of $1,000. With those funds, we should be able to feed at least two shifts of workers.
Even while being restricted in our travel, we can still serve our community.
If you’re a lifetime member, you probably already received a message from the branch just checking in. Please feel free to contact us if we can help you during these trying times.
My thoughts are with every single one of you. We will get through this together.
In solidarity,
Sean Perryman
