Dear Family,
We began the week with news of more tragedy: the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
We extend thoughts and prayers to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting and their families. And we press for policy. We continue to call for practical gun-control and urge our representatives to take the necessary action to end this dreadful gun violence epidemic.
Electing representatives who understand the need for sensible gun reform and are willing to stand up to the gun lobby is a critical first step toward preventing future tragedies like this.
The administration may try to suppress the votes of people of color through purging, voter ID laws, and other schemes, but the NAACP fiercely fights to protect our rightful stake in America’s democracy.
We are encouraged by victory in Texas, where the NAACP state conference was granted a restraining order prohibiting the state of Texas from providing documentation to President Trump’s so-called Commission on Election Integrity until further review.
