Discrimination Complaint

 
If you feel that you have experienced discrimination in Fairfax County, please fill out the discrimination complaint form below.

Once your complaint has been received, the Fairfax NAACP Branch will do the following:

  • Acknowledge receipt of your complaint in a timely fashion.
  • Contact you to set up a time to discuss the details of your complaint.
  • Investigate your complaint to determine if it appears to concern race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or religion discrimination.*

Investigation may include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Speaking with other parties involved in the incident.
  • Visiting the location(s) involved in the incident.
  • Collecting and reviewing documents related to the incident.

For any complaint concerning a type of discrimination listed above and that falls within the work of one of our Branch advocacy committees (Criminal Justice, Housing, Education, Political Action, Economic Development), we will provide support to you in pursuing justice. Support may include, but is not limited to:

  • Contacting police or other authorities involved in the incident
  • Writing emails/letters on your behalf (for example, to your boss, school principal, or county officials)
  • Facilitating/participating in meetings (for example, with your boss or school officials)
  • Assisting you with filing a complaint with the appropriate county organization (for example, the Police Civilian Review Panel or the Office of Human Rights and Equity Programs (OHREP))
  • Referring you to appropriate resources within the community

*Note: Fairfax County, the State of Virginia, and the Federal Government recognize other types of discrimination (for example, disability discrimination) that our Branch does not handle. So, even if your complaint does not fall into one of these five categories, it is possible you may still have a legal discrimination claim.
