An evening of elegance, intention, and impact awaits.
This year, the Fairfax County Branch invites you into a refined and enchanting experience with our Masquerade Ball. Founded in tradition yet elevated in presentation, this year’s gala will honor the legacy, leadership, and brilliance of Black excellence. Guests are encouraged to arrive in formal attire, adorned with masks, ready to step into a night that blends sophistication with purpose.
Unmasking Greatness
Every mask tells a story, and behind each one is a reflection of strength, resilience, and influence. This year’s theme calls us to recognize what is often unseen yet deeply felt: the impact, the sacrifice, and the enduring brilliance that defines our community.
Throughout the evening, we will honor the visionaries, trailblazers, and change makers whose contributions continue to shape the future.
Keynote Speaker
Roland S. Martin

A National Voice for Truth, Justice, and Accountability
A Voice That Moves the Culture Forward
We are proud to welcome our keynote speaker, Roland S. Martin, an award-winning journalist widely regarded as one of the most influential voices in Black media. Over the course of his distinguished career, Martin has interviewed U.S. presidents, leading athletes, and top entertainers, all while maintaining a clear sense of purpose—informing, challenging, and advocating for Black communities. Many have come to know him as “The Voice of Black America.”
He is the host and managing editor of Roland Martin Unfiltered, the first daily digital show dedicated to news, politics, entertainment, and culture from an explicitly African American perspective. Launched in 2018, the show has become a leading platform for in-depth analysis and unapologetic commentary. In 2021, he expanded that vision with the launch of the Black Star Network, an OTT platform delivering a wide range of programming across news, culture, finance, wellness, and history, accessible across digital and streaming platforms.
Martin’s influence extends across radio, television, and digital media. He delivers daily commentary on theiHeartRadio Black Information Network, heard on stations nationwide, and has previously served as a contributor to CNN and a senior analyst for the Tom Joyner Morning Show, where his voice reached millions of listeners each day. A true digital media pioneer, he was among the first to launch Black-focused news podcasts in both audio and video formats, helping to shape the future of independent Black media.
He is also a bestselling author of multiple books, including White Fear: How the Browning of America Is Making White Folks Lose Their Minds, along with several other works exploring faith, politics, and the Black experience in America. A graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in journalism, he has also received multiple honorary degrees in recognition of his contributions to media and public discourse.
Throughout his career, Martin has received more than 40 awards for journalistic excellence, including four NAACP Image Awards. He was inducted into the National Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame as its youngest living inductee and named a Fellow of the Society of Professional Journalists—one of the highest honors in the field. He has also been recognized by Ebony Magazine as one of the 150 Most Influential African Americans, ranked by readers of Jet Magazine as a leading voice on issues impacting Black America, and named the number one Black pundit in the country by NewsOne.
A sought-after speaker, Martin continues to shape national and global conversations around politics, culture, and equity—bringing insight, clarity, and conviction to every platform he leads.
